Behind the Seams of “FSCO Photo Week”: Picture-Perfect Cosplay Patterns, From Concept to Creation
The small and mighty team at First Stop Cosplay has been hard at work developing a more welcoming and user-friendly shopping experience in preparation for our new website launch. We’ve elevated every aspect of what we offer to match the industry-leading, beginner-friendly quality of our original sewing pattern paper, instructions, and designs. As we produce everything in-house, we’re committed to going the extra mile to ensure that what we create reflects our dedication to breaking down any obstacles standing between you and your DIY dreams.
Lights, Camera, Fashion!
To ensure the pictures on our new website match the premium quality of our sewing patterns, we recently organized an in-house cosplay photoshoot we like to call “Photo Week”. Over five exciting days, our talented team members joined forces to create stunning visuals showcasing what makes our First Stop Cosplay Originals sewing patterns truly exceptional.
It was a creative endeavor unlike anything we’d attempted before — and spoiler alert — it was a huge success! But before we give away the happy ending, join us for a “behind the seams” look at how the FSCO Photo Week grew from the seedling of an idea into a fully-fledged reality.
Teamwork Takes Center Stage
From meticulously planning the schedule and deciding outfit combinations to contacting models and collecting props for our photo sets, the team behind Photo Week went above and beyond even our own expectations.
Leading garment production, our patternmaker, Ashley, crafted 21 photo-ready samples in just five days! Despite the tight schedule, every stitch, trim, and embellishment was thoughtfully considered. “Planning fabric choices is critical,” Ashley explained. “We balanced brand cohesion with comfort for the models, choosing fabrics that looked and felt good. When we realized a turtleneck fabric wasn’t stretchy enough, quick thinking helped us find the perfect replacement.”

Meanwhile, Kelly, our sales lead, kept production on track. “I managed some of the sewing and most of the cutting, making sure each pattern had a plan and the schedule stayed on course. Flexibility was key!” Alligator clip extraordinaire with a hawk’s eye for wrinkles, Kelly made sure no petticoat was ever exposed, and that pleats were always perfectly in place.

For Amanda, our founder and president, the devil was in the details. She created a massive binder filled with styling notes and measurements to confirm everyone knew exactly what was needed. “Once everything was set up — people, garments, props — I knew we’d make it through,” she recalled, with a look of relief. Last-minute surprises, like backward-sewn pockets, required quick re-adjustments, but teamwork ensured smooth sailing.

Ultimately, it was all hands on deck, with our executive assistant, Olivia, ironing up a frenzy, and our project manager, Elaine, seam-ripping and sewing. Not to mention those involved during the actual shoot — photographers, models, and more! For that, you’ll have to check out part two.
How it All Came Together
From meticulous garment construction to behind-the-scenes problem-solving, the success of Photo Week was due to the dedication of our dream team players.
